A lonely tune....

This glow bug was his favorite toy when he got it from his Nanny. He loved it, and loved to play with it in his bed before going to sleep. Not so long ago he began throwing it out of his crib, and would cry, sometimes getting so worked up he would scream. We would go in and get it for him, wondering if it was for attention, or delaying the sleep process. For weeks we would go in and give him his glow bug, and for weeks he would throw it back out, and cry. FINALLY, we realized the music was making him sad, and he didn't want to hear it in his dark room before going to sleep. I figured it out when he would play with it during the day, out of his bed, and I actually watched him play the music, and get so sad and cry when certain songs would play. He just couldn't tell us, poor baby, we kept putting it back in his bed:( Another reason to help this boy find his voice!

Sweet boy. He'll find a way to tell you what you need to know.

We have a glow worm and ours has a switch on the inside that allows you to set it to light but no music.

It breaks ones heart. It is a tough stage but I trust that he will soon be finding ways to let you know some of his thoughts - and when that starts happening you will feel so thrilled that you would want to throw a party every night:)

I remember reading on the RTS listserv about other RTSweeties who are very sensitive to sad music and movies. Interesting!

That is so sad but you are a good Mom to have figured out what was bugging him.

Awww, what a sweet sensitive kid he is. It must have been hard on you to realize that giving it back to him each time was making him sad. You are such an intuitive mom to have figured that out!

The same thing happened with us. Sawyer had a toy that played a song that he hated and it took awhile for us to figure it out.

Sawyer LOVES his glow worm too, it's his favorite.

Another similarity our kids have...and I wouldn't have figured it out unless reading blogs and our listserv..each day when driving home from daycare I play music for Logan (we've played it a ton) and all of a sudden now he cries when some of the songs come and I couldn't figure out why..now I know..BTW..Logan has a monkey whose face lights up..but no music.he loves it!! He has been changing up a lot of things on us lately..a lot of detective work goin on here! But it definitely all pays off!
