I always imagined

That my "Pa Paw" would move on to heaven up in the mountains, doing what he loved, right where he loved to be. I never imagined it would be in a hospital, on a vent. This man, my grandfather fought in WW2, a Sergeant, he saw the worst the world had to offer, and made it home safe. For as long as I have known him he has been a lumberjack, packing his lunch, and heading up into the Rockie Mountains. I remember his smell, a mix of tums, and old spice. He smelled so good. His arms covered in tattoos telling the stories of where he had once been in life, and then, the life he lived in front of me, told the story of where he was now. Strong, made it through the worst, but softer, funnier, and more loving from it. He was a real man, all I ever knew was a great man. I love you Pa Paw, I miss you so much.

eating, feedings, and tummy bugs.

So the tummy bug hit our house a week before Christmas.....Joel, Alex, Adam. Noah and I missed it. Joel was over it in two days, but Alex just had his first day throw up free since the week before Christmas. How does one stop losing weight when they throw up everyday? Hopefully, things will continue to improve............Alex tried his first chocolate chip cookie, seemed to like the taste but gagged on his bite. One step at a time I guess.

"He really comed!!!!!"

Those are the words I heard my four year old say as the boys ran to the Christmas tree Christmas morning...."He really comed!!!" Enjoying Santa's gifts......

Alex doesn't get up early for anyone, not even Santa. He got into bed with me around 8. Yes, I got back into bed after the boys tore through the gifts and were happily playing.

Then it was "Birds" turn.

I want to thank those of you who said a prayer for my grandpa. It brought tears to my eyes to get your messages that you had prayed for him. His nurse said last night that my mom needed to come today instead of Saturday. Please keep praying.

Sargeant Jones

If all of you who read this could send up a prayer for my grandpa. He is in the ICU tonight. I know this blog gets 3-400 hits a day, if we could send up that many prayers...............My grandpa was Sargeant Jones in WW2, he is a lumberjack in the Rockie Mountains of Colorado, and cuts timber at the age of 86. I love you Pa Pa.

Alex played, and was full of smiles this morning!!! He hasn't been feeling very good, along with getting another tooth, I think number 15, he caught the stomach bug from Joel and his daddy. He has been throwing up at night, and not sleeping his best, but he was all smiles this morning. Question: How can you tell your reflux vomit er is throwing up because they are sick???? No, we really can tell. Alex doesn't ever throw up everything, including medicine at night, or water. That's how we know, he also had some icky britches.....I will just leave it at that. But like Joel and Adam they all feel fine in between the bodily functions...Ok, this is a Christmas Eve post........

Home made peanut butter, chocolate chip, and oatmeal raisin. Oreos dipped in white chocolate with reindeer faces, sugar cookies, and pretzel sticks dipped in white chocolate and sprinkles....Don't touch, these are for tomorrow.

The weather was a bit nasty, but thanks to my dad we arrived there and back safe! The beautiful basket of your donated ornaments!

So much fun!!!! I didn't get to see all the doctors and nurses that cared for Alex but Pat Alex's primary nurse was there and helped pass out the ornaments. We also got to see a NNP, and two other nurses that cared for Alex. Thank you for helping make this trip possible. Blessing these other parents who are sitting, waiting, and loving their babies through this time. I wish you all could have walked the halls with me!!!!! ( I think you did!) Have a merry Christmas Eve! You all made this first annual trip to the NICU awesome!!! I'm honored that so many of you stepped up, and gave these families hugs on Christmas!
